Life/Art Update

Posted by KayEf - 2 days ago

Heya, Newgrounds homies. Thought I'd pop in for a New Year's update, since my last news post was a little over a year ago.

I know I haven't posted anything substantial since about September, and I'm sorry to say that there's no real good reason aside from major art blockage. I'm real sorry for that. There are some factors that could be playing into this, such as the passing of my Grandmother (mom's mom) last December and my Grandfather (dad's dad) just this past December, not to mention that my dog of 13 years is on his last legs right now. Can't truly tell if these are affecting me subconsciously or not, but the point here is that I feel like I can't make/finish anything right now.

That leads me into some art news: for the foreseeable future, don't expect a whole lot outta me. I had big plans for Breakpoint, Relatable, some other side projects and the like; however, I have too much I want to do so I'm gonna be taking a big step back and work on myself and my work habits. Gonna try and learn me some new programs like Blender and maybe even get into making music tracks for any projects I plan to do.

I don't know just how long it'll be till I post anything again, but for my own sake I need to just create for myself for once. No big plans, no commissions, no collabs. I want to learn more than anything and if I focus on taking my work too seriously then I'm never gonna be able to do that. I hope anyone who cares for my work will understand and if so, I give the most heartfelt thanks and apologies.

Anyhow, happy belated New Years and I'll cy'all on the other side. Peace!

As a fellow artist and as someone who has lost two of my grandparents and in the last few days a cat of 15 years I can only sympathize. Recover in peace and hone your skills, only you know when the time is right to return.

Overcoming losses can be tough, and unfortunately these are inevitable experiences. I wish that you recover from them and save good memories of your close ones.

Sounds like a lot of life milestones. I think it’s ok to not be as active
